Applied Behavior Consultants, Inc. also known as ABC, Inc. was founded twenty years ago in 1987 by Behavior Analysts, Joseph E. Morrow, Ph.D., and Brenda J. Terzich, M.A. B.C.B.A who continue to serve as President and Vice President of Applied Behavior Consultants, Inc.

Joseph E. MorrowJoseph E. Morrow, Ph.D., BCBA-D

received his Doctorate in experimental Psychology in 1965 from Washington State University and has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst since 1999.  He has taught at the California State University, Fullerton; Indiana University, South Bend ; (where he was department chair) and California State University , Sacramento where he is a Professor of Psychology and Behavior Analysis (Emeritus).  Dr. Morrow is also co-founder and President of Applied Behavior Consultants, Inc. ® ( ABC, Inc). He was a pioneer in the academic development of Behavior Analysis in California , creating one the first courses in 1966 and has published numerous papers on behavioral psychology and his first publication on the behavioral treatment autism was in 1966. His academic career received many awards culminating in the Livingston Lecture Award at Cal-State Sacramento in 2002.  “This award recognizes a sustained and unique contribution to the campus community in providing intellectual leadership and has important significance to the life of this university.”  Dr. Morrow has also been an active member of the behavioral community and a member of The Association for Behavior Analysis, International (ABAI) since 1974.  In 2006, he was given an award from that organization for “Outstanding Contributions to the International Dissemination of Behavior Analysis”  He is a former president of the Northern California Association for Behavior Analysis, was active in its merger with the southern California sister organization into the California Association for Behavior Analysis, where he served as Board Member and Conference Chair.  Additionally, he is a member of the International Society for Behaviorology for which he served as Conference Chair. 

 

Brenda J. Terzich Brenda J. Terzich-Garland B.C.B.A

received her Masters of Arts Degree in Psychology with a concentration in Behavior Analysis from California State University, Sacramento and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst as well as a Certified PECS TM Implementer/Supervisor. She is a member of the national and state-levels of the Association for Behavior Analysis. Ms. Terzich-Garland is Co-founder/Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer of Applied Behavior Consultants, Inc .® (ABC, Inc. founded in 1987) and has been an officer of the California Association for Behavior Analysis and Easter Seals. She has over 25 years of extensive clinical experience in the behavioral treatment of Autism/Autistic Spectrum Disorder ( ASD) and is the developer of ABC’s generalization program R.E.A.L. (Recreating Environments to Accelerate Learning, 1996) by which all ABA programs are built on for home, school and infant-toddler centers. Ms. Terzich-Garland is also the developer of ABC’s clinical staff training programs (Caring and Effective Education, 1993). This publication is the basis for ABC’s staff training nationally and internationally. She has conducted numerous workshops and in-services on ABA including discrete trials; verbal behavior; PECS; social behavior, play assessment analysis and generalization. She has also presented nationally and internationally on a wide range of topics concerning the treatment and education of children with Autism, ADHD and other developmental disabilities. Ms. Terzich-Garland has co-authored and presented several research papers on the behavioral treatment of autism. She and Joseph E. Morrow’s work are described in the textbook, “Behavior Analysis and Learning (Epling and Pierce, 1995).”

Mari Ueda-Toa, M.A./B.C.B.A
ABC International Liaison

Ms. Ueda-Tao holds a Master of Arts Degree in Psychology with a concentration in Behavior Analysis from the University of the Pacific, Stockton , CA . She is currently Regional Director in Sacramento . She heads the Community Services and Infant/Toddler Programs at ABC, Inc., and is responsible for in-home behavioral assessments and developing behavior intervention plans for children and adults with developmental disabilities, specializing in the treatment of Autism.  In addition, Ms. Ueda-Tao has conducted training sessions on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), including Positive Programming for Parents, skill teaching techniques, and in-home behavior intervention strategies. She has experience in clinically supervising a number of behavior consultants, specializing in early, intensive intervention techniques, including comprehensive work with infant/toddler age ranges.  Ms. Ueda-Tao is a member of the national and state-levels of the Association for Behavior Analysis.  Internationally, she has trained a number of teachers and parents on the implementation of ABA principles with children with Autism in Algeria , Bahrain , France , Iceland , Portugal , and Romania .

 

Hui Ling Loh , M.A B.C.B.A is the Singapore Site Behavior therapist/Clinical Administrator.

Ms. Hui Ling Loh is a board certified behavior analyst. She is also a member of Association for Behavior Analysis International since 2005. She received her Master of Arts Degree in Behavior Analysis with an emphasis in Autism and Organizational Behavior Management in April 2007 from Western Michigan University. While pursuing her degree, Ms. Loh worked in an early childhood developmentally delayed classroom of a special education school. She had held the position as a Behavior Technician and Graduate Supervisor in the classroom where she supervised and trained practicum students. In July 2007, Ms. Loh joined Applied Behavior Consultants, Inc. (ABC), working with children diagnosed with ASD and other developmental disabilities, and supervising other behavior consultants and ensuring the quality of clients’ program. She is currently Site Administrator/ Senior Behavior Analyst in ABC Center Singapore, where she oversee the clinical operation of the center. Her responsibilities include training behavior technician and behavior analyst, supervising staffs, conducting assessment, creating and troubleshooting lessons and behavior plans, providing parent training through teaching of ABA techniques to ensure generalization process continues at home. Ms. Loh has provided international classroom consultation in China and Bahrain and presented on the topic “Effectively Managing Behavior Excesses” for the 2 nd International Conference “Untangle Autism 2009” at Bahrain.

Rick Gutierrez, M.S./B.C.B.A
Rick Gutierrez is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with over 10 years of experience in the treatment of individuals diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. Mr. Gutierrez holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of California, Riverside and a Masters of Science degree in Behavior Analysis from California State University, Los Angeles. Mr. Gutierrez has served as Program Manager, Regional Director, and currently as the Clinical Administrator of Southern California services for Applied Behavior Consultants, Inc. As Clinical Administrator Mr. Gutierrez coordinates ABC services with multiple regional centers and school districts and is responsible for overall staff clinical support throughout the region. Mr. Gutierrez has given numerous workshops on ABA throughout the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia. He is level II certified in Teaching through Acoustical Guidance (TAG). He specializes in Verbal Behavior Theory and has published work in The Analysis of Verbal Behavior. Mr. Gutierrez is a member of the Association for Behavior Analysis and the California Association for Behavior Analysis.

 

Gigi SalazarGigi Salazar , M.A. holds a Master of Arts degree in Elementary/Childhood Education from Columbia University, USA. While pursuing her degree,she taught first and third grades
in New York City public schools. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree, Major in Management (Honors Program) and Minor in Industrial Psychology, graduating Cum Laude. She initially pursued a career in banking with a large global bank, working on Marketing, Credit Analysis, and Treasury, before deciding to shift into her preferred career of teaching and working with children. Gigi is now Operations Manager for ABC Singapore.

 

Lilibeth Tan , is a Director of ABC Center Singapore. She is a U.S. licensed music and movement teacher with years of experience in teaching children, especially toddlers and pre-school aged children. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. She has a deep passion in reaching out and helping children with autism because she herself is a mother of a special child. She deeply understands the dilemma of a parent of a special child. She has navigated through many different programs that are offered , one of which was Applied Behavior Analysis. With her at the helm, ABC Center Singapore has articulated its core value of ‘The needs of the child should always come first!'. Her goal is to share the benefits of ABA to as many parents of children with Autism, and help them attain the dream of unlocking the full potential in their children, in the same way that it has for her own child.
